Vacation Friend 2 is the sequel to the comedy movie that follows two polar opposite couples as they travel. Despite their differences, the pairs decide to reunite on a trip to the Caribbean where they find themselves in another chaotic adventure. Can Vacation Friends 2 take viewers on a journey filled with laughter or should the trip come to an end?
One of Vacation Friend 2’s biggest draw-ins is the return of its comedic star-studded cast. This includes John Cena, Lil Rey Howard, Yvonne Orji, and Meredith Hagner. A casting “surprise” for the sequel is Steve Buscemi, who inputs his character with ease into the chaotic comedy mix. The cast does a relentless job of playing off of each other’s absurdities which becomes similar to watching a dumpster fire as they start to become unbearable in their delivery.
Very few comedy movies are able to keep the pace of their predecessor and Vacation Friends 2 is not an exception. The plot was severely overshadowed by formulaic jokes that felt rushed and repetitive from the first movie. It’s disappointing since the first movie seemed to flow better among the friendships full of disarray. This time the movie goes in multiple directions but falls short of connecting everything together with jokes that land.
If you’re looking for a movie to stream that you don’t need to fully pay attention to then I recommend adding this to your watchlist. The cast is enough to make it bearable but the substance lacking plot is not ideal for a second watch.
