'King Richard' opens in theaters and HBO November 19th, 2021.
The rumors may be true. It's floating around that this will get Will Smith a nomination, but I'm thinking this one may just give him a win. His performance is perfect in this movie. He is the father you want cheering you on, on the sidelines.
Driven by a clear vision of their future and using unconventional methods, Richard has a plan that will take Venus and Serena Williams from the streets of Compton, California to the global stage as legendary icons. The profoundly moving film shows the power of family, perseverance and unwavering belief as a means to achieve the impossible and impact the world.
We all know who the Williams are, the amazing tennis duo sisters, but this movie is more than just tennis. It shows what they had to go through to get the dreams they wanted complete. Rejection time and time again, and it took so long to see what Richard Williams vision truly was. He kept with it, and made a perfect duo. The movie is perfect in showing the emotion they all went through. Not even just the sisters, but the whole family. Everyone was cast perfect to show the emotion needed.
The movie brings an excitement to it half the time, and emotion the other half. It’s a perfect pace and we kept with what you want to watch, when watching a sports movie about someone’s beginning. The last match keeps you on edge if you didn’t live through it or watched tennis back in that day. So be ready for that.
This is a family movie. Everyone will benefit from it. The story is powerful, and everyone can relate. Plus, you really don't want to miss Will Smith give everything he has on screen. Make sure you stay during the credits so you can see what the real Richard Williams looked like.
