'Clifford The Big Red Dog' opens in theaters and on Paramount+ November 10th, 2021.
Clifford is ready to take on the big (and streaming) screen in his first live action movie. The movie is great for the family, and does have some good heart felt moments. The film brings the good moments, and it also includes great lessons for the kids.
When middle-schooler Emily Elizabeth (Darby Camp) meets a magical animal rescuer (John Cleese) who gifts her a little, red puppy, she never anticipated waking up to find a giant ten-foot hound in her small New York City apartment. While her single mom (Sienna Guillory) is away for business, Emily and her fun but impulsive uncle Casey (Jack Whitehall) set out on an adventure that will keep you on the edge-of-your-seat as our heroes take a bite out of the Big Apple. Based on the beloved Scholastic book character, Clifford will teach the world how to love big!
I will say, there are a few times with the CGI that seem questionable. Every other animal look real, but sometimes Clifford just looks completely fake. Sometimes when he's small, others while he's big. My thought is they didn't want him to look too real, which makes sense, but I say why not? Or at least not make it look so obviously fake.
It is important to note, there are some funny one liners in here. So make sure you are noticing them so you can enjoy a good chuckle every once in a while.
This is a perfect movie to take the kids to! While the parents may fall asleep, with this one having a short run time, the kid will be done with this film the same time Dad or Mom will be waking from the nap. So take the kids, get them all the popcorn and candy and a big icee, and just enjoy this one with the family.
