'Dream Horse' opens in theaters NATIONWIDE on May 21st and On Demand June 11th, 2021.
The film tells the inspiring true story of Dream Alliance, an unlikely race horse bred by small town Welsh bartender, Jan Vokes (Academy Award® nominee Toni Collette). With very little money and no experience, Jan convinces her neighbors to chip in their meager earnings to help raise Dream in the hopes he can compete with the racing elites. The group's investment pays off as Dream rises through the ranks with grit and determination and goes on to race in the Welsh Grand National showing the heart of a true champion.
While it doesn’t stray from the structure of other heroic horse movies, “Dream Horse” is a heartwarming film without a single dull moment. When small town cashier and bartender Jan Vokes is inspired to breed a racehorse, she enlists the help of friends from her Welsh town to raise Dream Alliance. In this true story, the community “alliance” rallies behind the horse, who ends up bringing a mountain of hope to townsfolk and audiences alike.
The pleasant cast, headlined by the sublime and versatile Toni Collette, and motivational sentiment bring about this electric camaraderie that you can’t help but be consumed by, too. The joy that this feel-good movie brings proves that you don’t have to reinvent the wheel to create an enjoyable movie.
