'You Should Have Left' is Premiering On Demand June 18th, 2020.
When you first hear a horror movie by Blumhouse you immediately get excited. Then you hear that Blumhouse is calling it a psychological thriller you get ready to lose your mind. Well, don't get too excited. You better lower that bar so you won't be as disappointed as you will be with this movie.
'You Should Have Left' has Theo and Susanna booking a vacation at a stunning, remote modern home in the Welsh countryside for themselves and their six-year-old daughter. What at first seems like a perfect retreat distorts into a perfect nightmare when Theo’s grasp on reality begins to unravel and he suspects that a sinister force within the house knows more than he or Susanna have revealed, even to each other.
While that little blur might get you excited again, I am here to lower your expectations again.
This movie stars Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried, while independently they are not that bad, together they are just wrong on so many levels. It's not the age difference so much since they bill Bacon's character as a rich widower, it's the chemistry on screen. You will be rooting for them to get a divorce through the whole movie. It is truly that bad.
While this may be a good date night movie, since it does have a few jumps in the movie, it falls flat at the end. While they explain somethings that happen, you'll still have questions at the end of the movie that seems to have been forgotten.
I wish the first sixty minutes of this movie could be watched in a theater audience. It is exciting and does keep you on edge. The last thirty minutes you'll be glad you are watching it at home, so you can immediately watch something else to help you forget this movie.
