Rebooted and ready to solve some mysteries is Scooby and the gang! Shaggy (Will Forte), Fred (Zach Efron), Daphnie (Amanda Seyfried), Velma (Gina Rodriguez) and last but certainly not least, Scooby voiced by none other than the original voice of Scooby, Frank Welker! After discovering that Scooby is of somewhat royal descent, the gang has to rescue him with the help of Blue Falcon (Mark Wahlberg).
I grew up watching Scooby Doo and maybe that’s one of the reasons why I love Halloween? The best part was all the haunted houses, and ghosts - things that were scary but also made less so by the jokes. In this movie, there’s a tiny piece of that but it’s definitely missing what I loved about the cartoons. It’s apparent they are going in a more robotic/technology type of direction. Which I guess would be more fitting for today’s generation
The movie is quite the adventure, you really have to watch it or else you will be very lost. It was a lot a going on, it might be hard for kids to really follow the plot. For old school Scooby fans like myself, this might be a pass. For newer soon to be fans, this might work out.
