When teenage elf brothers Ian and Barley Lightfoot (voices of Tom Holland and Chris Pratt) get an unexpected opportunity to spend one more day with their late dad, they embark on an extraordinary quest aboard Barley’s epic van Guinevere. Like any good quest, their journey is filled with magic spells, cryptic maps, impossible obstacles and unimaginable discoveries. But when the boys’ fearless mom Laurel (voice of Julia Louis-Dreyfus) realizes her sons are missing, she teams up with a part-lion, part-bat, part-scorpion, former warrior – aka The Manticore (voice of Octavia Spencer) – and heads off to find them. Perilous curses aside, this one magical day could mean more than any of them ever dreamed.

Onward is in theaters on March 6th, 2020.
Onward is a movie about family relationships that I haven’t seen represented very often. It had proper
character development, beautiful animation, and a storyline that will tug at your heartstrings.
As I get older, I hear more and more people say that animated movies are for the younger generations. I
care less and less about that opinion with movies like Onward. There are valuable lessons for younger
kids to learn in this movie. Healthy family interactions, grief, and letting go as things change are some of
the most obvious throughout the movie. Some of those same lessons should also serve as a reminder to
adults about what’s really important in life.
If you’re looking to take the family to a movie this weekend, then add Onward to the list of possibilities.
There are a ton of genuine laugh out loud moments and an overall feel good movie.
