The Gentlemen is in theaters on January 24th, 2020.
Guy Ritchie is back in this dark comedy that will satisfy his niche fans. Comparable to Snatch, if you enjoyed that, this is provably for you.
Hugh Grant plays Fletcher, a Private Investigator who is trying to blackmail Raymond, played Charlie Hunnam. Raymond is the right hand man of the largest marijuana dealer in Europe, Mickey, played by Matthew McConaughey. Mickey came from nothing and built an empire, he does everything in his power to keep his reputation and fight off people who try to take what’s his before he is ready to give it. Henry Goulding plays Dry Eye, the antagonist of the movie. He’s such a great actor and I felt like he could’ve had more screen time.
Theres a bit of controversy surrounding the humor in this movie, I would say it’s an equal opportunity offender. If you bothered by racial stereotypes I would avoid this - it might be too much for you.
I’m not a huge Guy Richie fan - even Aladdin, I wasn’t sold on it. I can appreciate the style of films he’s built and if you like that I think you will like this one.
