Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is in theaters on December 20th, 2019.
The trilogy finally comes to an end! Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is officially here. It’s time to say
goodbye to some of the most beloved characters in movie history. I want to keep this review spoiler
free, so I’ll be brief – but we join Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron in the first against the First Order. This
movie takes off after the events of The Last Jedi as our surviving Resistance members prepare for the
final battle. The Rise of Skywalker mixes old, new, and beloved characters for the final journey. We find
out the truth about Rey what it means to truly be a Jedi, and the power of friendship. Oh, and where
that maniacal, iconic Palpatine laugh fits in this story…
I came out of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker very happy with the film. I’ve loved the Star Wars saga,
but I can admit I’m not as much of a crazy superfan as some, so I can understand that there will always
be critics. I was content with the way things ended and loved all of the visuals and battle scenes. I think
JJ did a wonderful job but can also see that it may feel like he overworked to please fans. There were
clearly many fan theories and options of how to end this series, and while I was happy with the decision,
it feels like this can be a very “love it or hate it” movie. It was a wild journey throughout these movies,
and I think this finale did the saga justice, but get out to the theaters and form your own opinions this
weekend! And bring your tissues!
May the force be with you, always.
