Stuber is in theaters on July 12th, 2019.
Stuber follows a calm Uber driver named Stu who is trying to maintain above a four star rating. While driving for the ride sharing service he picks up an unbalanced cop who is hot on the trail of a criminal. The two opposite tempered men go on a danger filled ride that takes them all over the state of California. Can this Uber based movie receive a five star rating?
This movie is a wild ride from the beginning. If you are looking for action and some captivating fight scenes then Stuber delivers on that. Several times it got so violent to the point that it was almost cringeworthy.
While it does have a predictable storyline, the comedy is what really stood out in the movie. I was unsure of how Dave Bautista and Kumail Nanjiani’s differing types of comedic methods would work but they did. Stuber was laugh out loud funny during most of the comical portions. It is the type of humor that is mindless and simply enjoyable at face value.
Stuber’s predictability and low grade humor makes it a great movie to escape the ride of everyday life. While it is not a five star ride, it is enough to be a fun one. If you are looking for unfiltered laughs and a predictable movie filled with violence then Stuber might be for you.
Rating: 3 out of 5
