Funny Story is in select theaters on May 24th, 2019.
Funny Story, is quite the drama filled film. A well-known sci-fi actor, who took advantage of his
fame, is finally starting realize all the mistakes he’s made over the years. Just when Walter
Campbell (Matthew Glave) begins to make amends with his only daughter, he screws things up
once more. Although he seemed to have good intentions, he just couldn’t control himself.
Walter decided last minute that he was going to crash his daughter’s hiatus and inform her of
some unsettling news. After meeting one of Nic’s friends on the way down, Walter develops an
unexpected bond with her that is sure to even further jeopardize the rocky relationship he has
with his daughter. However, his daughter Nic (Jana Winternitz) had some surprising news of her
own that would only make matters worse. Shortly after Walter arrived in Big Sur, California, to
meet up with his daughter, he was regretting everything.
This film, directed by Michael Gallagher, is very interesting to say the least. It was packed with
drama and anticipation. Leaving you questioning what the heck is going on, but still ready to find
out what happens next. However, I wouldn’t say it’s one that I would recommend to be seen in
theatres, but rather something to catch on Netflix or Hulu. Many of the events that occur in the
movie are just absurd. I will admit, this film is nothing like what I was expecting.
