Pet Sematary is in theaters on April 5th, 2019.

Dr. Louis Creed and his wife, Rachel, relocate from Boston to rural Maine with their two young children. The couple soon discover a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home.

This was one wasr, and not because it was gory or overly scary. It honestly just kinda sucked. The cinematography, or lack thereof, had the potential to be rather spectacular to be completely honest. Especially with how much time was spent in the woods and what they could’ve shown there and it was all just incredibly basic. Really nothing special about it at all.

I was thrown off with the pacing at the beginning as well. It jumped right into the story which I thought was interesting but quickly went down hill as the story progressed. The scary things lasted about 5 minutes while the lives of this family just kind of continued on. And yes there was some “torment of the mind” for these people but really nothing that bad was seen on screen in my opinion.

They talked about religion and life after death a little bit with one of the children and I did enjoy seeing that conversation happen after what the movie was to be about so I did enjoy that little bit of a plot point and it was fairly well executed. In particularly when Mom got involved because we got to see some character development on her end, which to be honest would’ve probably made a scarier movie than this one.

There was a group of kids shown early on in the film and I was very excited to see what they might be and it turned out they were literally nothing. Like at all. And it felt like a huge waste of time because they could’ve been a huge asset to the film!

All in all this movie was not worth the watch for me. There really wasn’t a lot of redeeming qualities to be honest.
