Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul brings the Heffley family back to the big screen. Based on a book from the popular series, the Heffleys make a road trip across the United States to celebrate their Memaw's 90th birthday however the family gets more adventure than they first believed when their journey goes off course.
This movie is a great summer movie for kids and their parents alike. Similar to the prior movies, the jokes range from child friendly to slight adult tones but there is nothing too risqué.
It is worth mentioning that the cast has completely changed from the other movies but the "new" Heffleys did okay. They fell into a bit of a cliche of a typical mom, dad, older brother, middle child, etc. but they did their parts in that sense which worked.
I will say this movie does have several scenes that are meant to gross viewers out which could be seen as a going a bit overboard. Since it's geared toward kids however they may like it but it is worth mentioning in case anyone does not like the sight or sound of bodily functions or garbage dwelling animals.
There are some laughs to be had but all in all there is nothing too memorable about this movie but the ending will most likely make you smile though. If you are looking for something to pass the time with your younger family members or to kick off summer this might be the film to watch.
